This three storey property, a former ex
presbytery, required major long-term renovations to bring it
into the 21st century.
The owner wanted the dividing wall between the
kitchen and lounge removing but with the ceiling height being over three
metres he wanted the upper section left in place. The lower section was
removed and timber reinforcements fitted to consolidate the upper
section which has created a larger lower area but leaving the ceiling
area ‘divided’.
The wall between the original kitchen and the utility
area was opened up to enlarge the doorway, the door removed and the two
areas combined to create a large kitchen-diner.The owner required that
the original render was removed from the stonework and the joints
pointed to create a feature wall.
New lighting positions were created and all new
lighting installed on individual dimmer circuits. All original internal
wooden doors were refurbished and all ceilings, walls and woodwork
repainted.
At the same time the downstairs bathroom and toilet
were refurbished, lighting changed and the whole area redecorated.
This work resulted in a superb modern house with all
facilities whilst retaining its original features. Extensive future work
on this property is already in the planning stages.
