The property dates back to the 1700’s but whilst
the owners wished to keep it’s original features, they wanted to put
their own modern ‘stamp’ upon it. The original bathroom and utility
were on the ground floor but were all very small – two walls were
removed to create a large ‘blank canvas’ then a dividing wall was
built at the far end to create a larger bathroom space. New floor
tiling was laid throughout the whole of the ground floor including
the lounge and downstairs bedroom as well as the kitchen
area.Contrasting white floor and wall tiling together with two rows
of pebble ‘border tiles’ were laid and a large walk-in shower with
glass screen and pebble base created. The ‘ceiling’/attic floor
above the kitchen and bathroom was removed and the joists left in
place – the owners wished to use these as a feature and they
undertook the final stripping and decoration, unfortunately no
pictures are available of the finished items. The exposed roof
timbers above these areas were insulated and plaster boarded and
banks of recessed spotlights installed. A glazed frame was created
above the dividing kitchen/bathroom wall to consolidate the bathroom
area. A full kitchen was installed together with associated wall
tiling.Other work undertaken on this property was all new internal
doors, new log burner, complete internal and external decoration and
five Velux windows installed. Refurbishment of the electrical and
plumbing installation was also completed.
